SKK Vysotsky Sports Palace

The SKK Vysotsky Sports Palace is a structure built on the same patch of land in the Leningradsky District. The original building, constructed in 1966 and opened that November, served as the only indoor ice rink in the city. It was demolished in 2017 to make way for the current complex, which finally opened in September 2021. While the new venue carries the name of the Soviet actor and bard Vladimir Vysotsky, a direct connection to his legacy is subtle. The renaming occurred in July 2022, more than five decades after he performed a historic concert there in 1967. That earlier event drew roughly 6,000 people, a figure that exceeds the current official sports capacity of 5,000 spectators. The current arena utilises an artificial ice surface for hockey and curling, with a wooden parquet floor laid over insulation for basketball games. HC CSK VVS plays their home matches in the Vysshaya Khokkeynaya Liga here, while BC Samara competes in the VTB United League. The facility also accommodates figure skating and wrestling tournaments. The management falls under the State Autonomous Institution of the Samara Region "Samara Arena".

The older building, designed by architects Alexei Morgun and Alexei Gerasimov, served the community for decades before structural issues limited its capacity in its final years. The new design by Volgatransstroy-proekt aims to modernise the space while retaining its dual role as a sporting and concert venue. The address remains 222 Molodogvardeyskaya Street, anchoring the facility in the same location despite the architectural overhaul.
