Sporthalle Gießen-Ost

Sporthalle Gießen-Ost is an indoor arena in Gießen, Germany, that has hosted basketball since the 1960s. It opened in 1969 as a gymnasium for the nearby Gesamtschule Gießen-Ost and a home for the city's professional basketball team. A renovation between 2005 and 2007 expanded the foyer into a cafeteria for 150 students and installed new parquet flooring.

The venue features a synthetic playing surface of wooden floor and PVC, designed for indoor sports rather than outdoor games. The capacity stands at 4,003 spectators, comprising 2,902 seats and 540 standing places, a figure reached after the major works of the mid-2000s. A subsequent update in 2021 funded lighting and facade improvements. The primary tenant is the GIESSEN46ers, who have called this venue home since its inception, having won five German Championships and three German Cups while playing here.

The arena is known internationally because professional wrestler Kevin Nash played basketball for the team during the 1980–1981 season prior to his career-ending knee injury. Other tenants include the handball team TV 05/07 Hüttenberg and the Basketball Akademie Gießen. The venue hosts various sporting events, including indoor soccer tournaments and dance championships. A notable high-attendance game was played on November 5, 2006, when the GIESSEN46ers defeated Eisbären Bremerhaven 66:62, cited in BBL records as having an attendance record context.
