SportinGenk Park
Genk, Belgium
Formerly: Stedelijke sporthal Genk
Sport in Genk Park is a sprawling municipal complex of indoor halls and outdoor pitches rather than a single goalpost. The modern building completing the site dates from 2015, but the identity of the place has shifted since then. For two years after completion it carried the name Stedelijke sporthal Genk , a title tied to its function as a hall rather than a park.
It is not where KRC Genk play their football. That ground is the Cegeka Arena. Here, the women’s team and the futsal squad hold court. The outdoor turf at Terrein 1 was natural grass until July 2020, when a municipal subsidy replaced it with artificial surface. The change was practical, meant to counter a deteriorated field. Taekwondo and calisthenics share the space with football.
Capacity figures for the complex vary, with Europlan-Online listing 1,500 and Sofascore suggesting 1,000, likely referring to the outdoor stand or the facility generally.
