Športna dvorana Marof sits low against the slope of Marof hill, its doors opening onto Kettejev drevored 2. The building has lived through the years without changing its name, emerging from 1975 with a wooden floor that still carries the sound of shoes sliding across parquet. The capacity has stayed steady at 1,200, though the seating itself has been reshaped by a renovation completed in early 2026 that replaced the old stands with a telescopic unit.

MRK Krka, the men’s handball club, has claimed the hall as its home since 2000. They share the space with TPV Volley Novo Mesto, the women’s volleyball team, and the boxing club Boxeo Novo Mesto. The basketball side of the town, KK Krka, plays its games elsewhere at Športna dvorana Leona Štuklja, leaving Marof to the handballers and the other sports. The hall is also used by Namiznoteniški Klub Krka for table tennis.

It has seen more than just indoor games. A concert by Petar Grašo filled the space, and the Pop delavnica music festival rolled through in 1983. The hall has hosted EHF European Cup matches and national championships, drawing crowds that rarely reach the full 1,200 seats. Recent match reports cite figures significantly lower than capacity, with 200 or 120 spectators turning up for a game. The wooden floor does not mind; it has been there a long time.

The venue refuses to go away from its role as a local hub. It is a hall in Novo mesto where the game flows from one sport to another. The telescopic stands now fold away when the hall is cleared for a concert or a tournament, then come back out for the next match. The capacity remains 1,200, unchanged since the beginning, a number that fits the town.
