Construction finished in 1974, though the first ball bounced on the floor in January of that same year. The structure was raised by Armabeton.
The floor is wood . It is not a pitch of grass, nor is it synthetic turf. The court is home to SK Interobal Plzeň for futsal and BK Lokomotiva Plzeň for basketball.
The capacity is not a matter of record-breaking crowds. There are no legendary attendance records from this place, nor are there famous incidents etched into the walls.
While other Czech towns have a hall named after Tyršova, this one carries the official title of Městská sportovní hala. It sits in the Plzeň 2-Slovany district, part of the larger TJ Lokomotiva complex.
