Stade Agoè-Nyivé

The ground sits at the edge of the Agoè-Nyivé commune, facing Boulevard Gnassingbé Eyadéma. The playing surface is natural grass. What is certain is that the area feels much larger than it is. The trees behind the main stand shelter the players from the midday sun, and the wind usually comes from the sea, blowing straight across the field. It is a small venue, but it holds its own against the bigger grounds in the capital.

The capacity is a matter of some debate. One source says 2,000 places, another puts the number near 10,000. The crowd rarely fills the concrete beyond the first few rows anyway.

Local clubs use the ground regularly. Dynamic Togolais, Olympique Club Agaza Omnisports, and AS Douanes all call it home. The pitch often gets cut up badly after a weekend double-header, but the maintenance crew usually has it ready by Monday morning. The atmosphere is straightforward; there are no shouting sections or pyrotechnics, just supporters who know each other well. They pick one up last week and talk about it for days. The ground has also hosted political rallies and concerts, but football remains its primary purpose. The city council keeps the lights on, and the clubs pay their way. It is a working stadium, not a monument.
