Stade Général Seyni Kountché

The Stade Général Seyni Kountché sits at the intersection of Boulevard du Zarmaganda and Avenue du Mali Bero.

The ground is the primary national stadium of Niger, serving as the home venue for the Niger national football team alongside clubs such as AS Nigelec and US Gendarmerie. It was originally named Stade du 29 Juillet before being renamed in 1988 to honour General Seyni Kountché, the former President of Niger who died the previous year. The surface is natural grass.

A major renovation and expansion funded by the Chinese government took place in 1999, transforming the venue into a multi-use complex. While some records list a larger figure, the official seating capacity stands at 35,000. The stadium has hosted events ranging from the 2005 Jeux de la Francophonie and the 2009 CEN-SAD Games to the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations and its 2023 qualification matches. In August 2023, it also played host to a political rally for the military junta (CNSP) where approximately 30,000 supporters gathered.
