Stadion Voždovac
Belgrade, Serbia
The ground sits high above the street, built on top of a shopping centre rather than on the earth. The architecture is functional.
The most immediately recognisable feature is the playing surface. It is bright green artificial turf, a synthetic pitch imported from Germany that was considered state-of-the-art when the venue opened in 2013. This surface marked a distinct shift for Serbian football, as it hosted the first Serbian SuperLiga match played on synthetic material. The stadium meets UEFA standards, which allows it to host qualifying matches for the Europa League and the Champions League, despite its unusual location.
The structure is relatively compact, seating around 5,174 people, which creates a sense of proximity between the terrace and the action. FK Voždovac are the primary tenants and have played here since moving from their previous, demolished ground.
The facility is managed by Confluence Property Management, and while the commercial centre below shares its name, the stadium itself operates with a degree of separation from the retail space.
