Tauron Arena Kraków
Kraków, Poland
Formerly: Kraków Arena
The skyline of Kraków holds more than one large structure, and the newer one stands apart for what it does rather than for its age. It is an indoor arena, not a football ground, and the roof keeps the weather out. Tauron Arena Kraków sits at ul. Stanisława Lema 7, a location that puts it within easy reach of the city centre without being swallowed by it.
It opened in 2014. The capacity shifts with the event: around 15,000 for basketball or handball, closer to 20,000 when the floor is open to standing room at a show.
That flexibility is what makes it different from the older indoor halls in the city. It has hosted the European Men's Handball Championship final, the World Championship final for volleyball, and a major esports tournament. Wisła Can-Pack Kraków, the women's basketball team, uses the venue for some of its European matches, though the men's football sides keep their home games elsewhere.
