The Avenue Stadium

The stadium was built in 1990 at a cost of approximately £3 million, a figure that suggests a significant investment for a club of its stature at the time. It has served as the home for Dorchester Town F.C. since those early days, hosting matches for tenants like Dorchester Sports F.C. and Jurassic Coast Raptors alongside the primary occupant.

Historical weight comes not from age but from specific moments. The all-time attendance record of 4,159 was set on 1 January 1999 during a local derby against Weymouth, a match that drew a crowd nearly equal to the stadium's capacity. Before that, the ground hosted an FA Cup Second Round draw against AFC Bournemouth in the 1981/82 season, a result that required a replay at Dean Court. More recently, it saw out-of-town visitors like AFC Bournemouth during their own rebuilding phase in the 2001–02 season, and Bristol Rovers in a Fourth Round Qualifying match in 2014/15, where the hosts fell to a heavy defeat. The site has also carried other names, including the Jewson Stadium, after the building materials company, but The Avenue remains the permanent title.
