The Lancashire FA moved its operations here in 1998, claiming the venue for administrative work and regional matches. The original owners, Leyland Motors, departed the league in 2001, leaving the ground to find a new identity.

The pitch is natural grass, kept in good condition despite the lack of a high-profile team. The capacity is roughly 2,300 spectators, a figure confirmed by the Lancashire FA website and other local records, though one database lists it higher. The setting feels isolated from the busy town centre.

It is not a destination for travelling supporters seeking a historic experience, but a practical space for the administration of the game in the region. It is a place that has survived the closure of its original club to serve a broader role in the sport.
