Trondheim Spektrum
Trondheim, Norway
Formerly: Nidarøhallen
The Trondheim Spektrum is not a single building but a collection of halls. The original structure, known as the Nidarøhallen, opened in 1963. This new space features a versatile floor area of 5,000 square metres. For basketball and handball, the capacity sits at 8,600.
Kolstad Håndball uses the venue as an alternate home for major fixtures, including matches in the European Handball Federation Champions League. The official website for the venue is trondheimspektrum.no.
Recent years have seen the arena host the final of the Melodi Grand Prix, Norway’s Eurovision selection show, in 2020, 2023 and 2024. The new main hall opened with a performance by John Mayer, followed by international acts such as Deep Purple and Scorpions. The sporting record for the venue belongs to a handball match between Kolstad Håndball and Elverum Håndball, which drew 9,083 spectators in October 2022. While the Nidaros Jets remain based in Hall F within the complex, the Spektrum itself serves as the primary stage for the city’s top-tier indoor teams.
