Víkin

Víkin sits in the Háaleiti og Bústað district of Reykjavík. The ground carries the official name Víkingsvöllur, but the locals simply call it Víkin. It opened in 2001, though some observers argue the work was not truly finished until 2004 or 2005.

The surface is artificial turf, a change made in March 2018 after natural grass had served the main and women’s teams of Knattspyrnufélagið Víkingur for seventeen years. The ground has hosted serious competition, including a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier against The New Saints in 2022. The official attendance record belongs to a game against Leiknir Reykjavík in 2021, when 2,023 people squeezed into the space. The seated capacity is listed at 1,149.

It has hosted international youth matches, including a UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier against Scotland in 2016. The same venue has been linked to senior international matches, such as a World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan, though the details of those events remain uncertain.
