Volkswagen Halle
Braunschweig, Germany
Formerly: Arena am Bürgerpark
The first thing you notice is the name written across the roofline: **VOLKSWAGEN ARENA**. The car manufacturer's branding has been prominent since the venue opened in 2000; it was originally known as the Arena am Bürgerpark before the automaker secured the naming rights.
Inside, the space shifts entirely depending on the occasion. In this configuration, the hardwood floor disappears beneath stages and equipment. The capacity expands to accommodate up to 8,000 people for such events.
When the floor is clear, the arena serves its primary tenant, the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig. The team has played its home games here since the doors opened in September 2000. The arena has also hosted the BEKO Supercup and the Handball-Bundesliga All-Star Game, bringing major competitions to the city.
The exterior remains quiet when the doors are shut.
