Waterworks Field

Desborough Town F.C. has called this patch of grass home since 1896, with the exception of a break during the Second World War. The ground’s name, Waterworks Field, suggests an older identity, one linked to the local infrastructure that once worked the land, though the precise date of its opening remains UNCLEAR.

The capacity sits at 2,000, a figure derived from the sum of its parts: an old stand with bench seating for roughly 250, covered areas to the right-hand side and behind the goal holding 800, and the remainder in open spaces. The surface is natural grass, cut to match the rhythm of the non-league game, and it is known to waterlog or bake depending on the season.

Plans for a £300,000 revamp were unveiled in February 2008, aiming to improve dressing rooms and spectator accommodation with help from the Football Foundation and the Maud Elkington Charitable Trust. There is no record of who built the field or the exact year it was opened.
