Westpress Arena

Westpress Arena sits quietly on the upper floor of the Maxi-Center shopping complex in the Werries district.

The space is dominated by its PVC floor, laid over a concrete base, which gives the room a bright, polished look.

It has lived through a change of name and a change of purpose. Opened in 2008 as the Maxipark Arena, it found its current identity in 2013 when the WESTPRESS agency took over the sponsorship. Before that, it had hosted the German men's national handball team at its opening, a moment that set the tone for its future. Now, it is the home of ASV Hamm-Westfalen, a club that plays in the 2. Handball-Bundesliga.

It is not just for sport. The Harlem Globetrotters have rolled through its doors, and concerts find a home in the same space where matches are played. It is a multi-purpose hall, but its heart remains with the ball. The attendance records are not set for football, but for table tennis and handball, proof that the room serves its local community well.
