Wordsworth Drive

It is rare to find a non-league ground with four covered sides in England. Wordsworth Drive has them, and that is where you will start. Taunton Town moved here in 1953 after leasing the site from the local council, who developed the land and installed floodlights in the 1970s. They bought the freehold a decade later. The ends of the ground are terraces, but the stands along the sides are seated and roofed. This layout is atypical for the level.

The club, known as the Peacocks, play on natural grass. The capacity sits at 3,000, though 422 of those spots are seats; the bulk of the crowd stands. The figure has drifted over time, but the official count remains steady. The record attendance is 3,284, set in the 1998–1999 FA Vase semi-final against Tiverton Town, a day when the crowd exceeded the official limit. The match was a significant moment for the club, and the number has stood since.

Sponsorship has changed the name on the door several times. For a long time it was simply Wordsworth Drive, until 2014. Then came The Viridor Stadium, followed by The Cygnet Health Care Stadium. In November 2023, it became The Somerset Campervan Co Stadium for the remainder of the season, before reverting to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium in the summer of 2024. During the 2023–24 season, the ground also hosted Truro City for home matches while their own Bolitho Park was unavailable due to pitch issues.
