About

The **Chang FA Cup** stands as Thailand’s primary domestic knockout football competition. Organized by the **Football Association of Thailand (FAT)**, the tournament operates as a pure single-elimination event without group stages. Its structure allows for significant "giant-killing" opportunities, as it remains open to all registered clubs across the Thai football pyramid. This inclusivity distinguishes it from the League Cup, which focuses primarily on professional tiers.

Lower-division teams enter in the Qualification Round, while Thai League 1 (T1) clubs join in the First Round. Tied matches in early rounds are decided by penalties without extra time, whereas later rounds employ extra time. The semi-finals and final are contested at neutral venues. Victory in the cup secures a place in the AFC Champions League Elite and the Thailand Champions Cup.

The modern iteration began in 1994, following a complex history involving predecessor tournaments like the Kor Royal Cup and the Queen's Cup. A suspension from 2000 to 2008 preceded its relaunch in 2009. Buriram United holds the record for success with eight titles and retains the current honour. Notably, the 2016 season saw the title shared by four teams following the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Current participants include Uttaradit, Nonthaburi City, Chiangrai, Kabin United, IESA Ayutthaya, and Nan City. Sponsors have included UCOM, Singha, Honda, and Thaicom, with Chang providing current backing. The competition does not involve promotion or relegation.
