Ligue 1 (Tunisia) 2026/27

The Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 serves as the top tier of the national football pyramid. It operates under a double round-robin format where each of the sixteen participating clubs plays thirty matches. This structure determines the hierarchy for continental competitions, with the champion and runner-up securing spots in the CAF Champions League. The third-place finisher qualifies for the CAF Confederation Cup. A distinctive feature of the competition is the trophy retention rule. A club may keep the championship trophy if it wins three consecutive titles. Espérance de Tunis is the only club to have retained it multiple times. The league is dominated by the "Big Three" (Espérance, Club Africain, Étoile du Sahel) and CS Sfaxien. Relegation sees the bottom three teams drop to Ligue Professionnelle 2, which is divided into two groups of 14 teams. The top team from each group is promoted back to the first tier. The league became professional in the 1994–95 season under the National Professional Football League (LNFP). It was founded on June 9, 1907, during the French protectorate. The first championship was organized by the Union des Sociétés Françaises de Sports Athlétiques (USFSA). Espérance de Tunis is the most successful club with 34 titles. The Tunisian Cup is the primary domestic cup competition. The Tunisian Super Cup is contested between the league champion and cup winner.
