About

The Jamaica Premier League operates as the highest level of domestic football in Jamaica, sanctioned by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF). Commercial control shifted from the federation to Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL) in 2020, while the JFF maintains regulatory oversight.

The competition currently involves 14 clubs playing a triple round-robin schedule that generates 39 matches per team. The top six sides progress to a knockout phase, with the first and second seeds receiving byes into the semi-finals. The remaining four teams contest two-legged quarter-finals. The semi-finals follow a similar two-legged format, culminating in a single-match final.

Portmore United stands as the most successful club in the competition’s history, securing eight titles, including an earlier victory under the name Hazard United. Cavalier SC claimed the crown in the 2023–24 and 2024–25 campaigns before Portmore United defeated them in the 2025–26 final.

Relegation impacts the lower end of the table, with the bottom two clubs dropping to the JFF Championship. This second tier, established in 2022, links the Premier League with regional Super Leagues through promotion and relegation exchanges.
