The Qatar Cup is a secondary domestic football tournament in Qatar, organized by the Qatar Football Association (QFA). Originally established as the Qatar Crown Prince Cup, the competition was renamed in 2013. It was founded in 1994, with the first edition played during the 1994-95 season. Unlike the Emir of Qatar Cup, which is an open knockout tournament for all first and second-division clubs, the Qatar Cup is a league cup contested exclusively by the top four finishers of the preceding Qatar Stars League season. The format is a knockout tournament played in single legs, typically held after the league season concludes. Al Sadd SC is the most successful club in the history of the competition, having won it multiple times, including the 2024-25 edition where they defeated Al Duhail on penalties. Other notable winners include Al Gharafa and Al Arabi. The competition serves as a postseason trophy for the league's elite, contrasting with the Emir Cup's role as the country's premier national cup open to a wider field of teams.
