The Jordan Shield Cup is a pre-season football tournament organized by the Jordan Football Association (JFA). Established in 1981, the competition is contested exclusively by clubs from the Jordanian Pro League, the top tier of the national game.
Unlike the open knockout structure of the Jordan FA Cup, which involves lower-division teams, the Shield Cup restricts participation to first-tier sides. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the Jordan Super Cup, where the winner faces the FA Cup champion. The format has varied over time, shifting between league systems and group stages followed by knockout play-offs. Recent editions have featured twelve teams divided into groups, with the top two advancing to semi-finals and a final.
Al-Wehdat SC and Al-Faisaly SC are the most successful clubs in the competition's history, each holding ten titles. Al-Wehdat secured victories in 1982, 1983, 1988, 1995, 2002, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2017, and 2020. Al-Faisaly won in 1987, 1991, 1992, 1997, 2000, 2009, 2011, 2022, 2023, and 2025. Other notable winners include Al-Ramtha SC with five titles, Al-Hussein SC with three, and Al-Jazeera Club with two. The inaugural edition in 1981 was won by Al-Jazeera Club.
The competition has experienced several cancellations due to league restructuring or scheduling conflicts, notably in 1999, from 2012 to 2015, and from 2018 to 2019. While the FA Cup winner gains qualification for the AFC Champions League Two, the Shield Cup provides no continental rewards beyond the domestic Super Cup fixture. The tournament does not involve promotion or relegation as it remains restricted to top-flight clubs.
