The Chinese FA Super Cup is an annual fixture that marks the beginning of the football calendar in China. Organized by the Chinese Football Association (CFA), the event takes place as a single match, usually in February or March. The contest brings together the champions of the Chinese Super League (CSL) and the winners of the Chinese FA Cup. Should a club secure the domestic double, the CSL runners-up take their place in the final.
The tournament was established in 1995. Its history includes periods of interruption, notably a hiatus between 2004 and 2011 and cancellations linked to the pandemic from 2020 to 2022. It functions strictly as a curtain-raiser for the season and does not involve any promotion or relegation stakes. While previously supported by sponsors such as Arstanton and Zhongzhang Wealth, the event is universally known by its standard title.
Historical success has been shared among several top-tier sides. Shanghai Shenhua leads the record with five victories, securing titles in 1995, 1998, 2001, 2024, and 2025. Guangzhou FC holds four honours, while Dalian Shide and Beijing Guoan have each claimed the trophy three times. In the most recent edition, Beijing Guoan defeated Shanghai Port to retain the silverware.
