The UEFA–CONMEBOL Finalissima is a single-match football contest between the winners of the European Championship and the Copa América. Originally established as the Artemio Franchi Cup in 1985 by FIFA, the tournament serves as a bridge between the two confederations, functioning as a national team equivalent to the Intercontinental Club Cup. It was revived in 2022 following a renewed Memorandum of Understanding between UEFA and CONMEBOL, aiming to foster cooperation between European and South American football.
The competition is decided in one match with no group stages or two-legged ties. The 2022 edition was played at Wembley Stadium in London, where Argentina defeated Italy 3–0. The current holder is Argentina. A fourth edition was scheduled for March 2026 in Doha, Qatar, featuring Spain and Argentina. However, this match was officially cancelled in March 2026. The cancellation was attributed to the "current political situation in the region" and a failure to reach an agreement on alternative venues or dates. UEFA proposed playing the match at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid or as a two-legged tie, but the Argentine Football Association rejected these proposals.
The 2026 edition was postponed from an initial 2025 date due to scheduling conflicts. There were no editions in 2024 or 2025. The competition does not have a permanent quadrennial schedule; its future beyond the current MoU (valid until 2028) remains uncertain. Notably, the 2022 edition had no official title sponsor, emphasizing its non-commercial status as a partnership event between the two confederations.
