The Dublin side retained victory in 2024 against Peamount United. Shelbourne Women responded by winning the 2025 edition with a 2-1 victory over Athlone Town. The competition carries its original name throughout, distinguishing it from sponsored iterations of the league or the main domestic cup.

The event is named in honour of the President of Ireland, who traditionally attends the final and presents the trophy. While the FAI Women's Cup, established in 1975, remains the primary national knockout competition open to all eligible teams, this super cup involves only the top-tier league participants.
