Match report
ABB hosted Buolo-Buolo in the third group stage of the Professional Division Cup on 8 September, losing 2-0. The visitors took a half-time lead through K. Merida in the 57th minute before R. Vargas sealed the win late on. It ends a difficult run for the hosts, who have now dropped points in three of their last five matches.
ABB started brighter, claiming 49 per cent possession, but Buolo-Buolo made their chances count. Merida's goal came after a period of pressure, and by then the visitors had already shown they could hurt you on the break. The hosts pressed hard after the break but found no answer to the away side's organisation.
Key events:
46' — R. Bustos substitution (ABB)
57' — K. Merida goal (ABB)
62' — A. Camacho, C. Jemio, G. Rea Mendieta substitutions (ABB)
87' — R. Vargas goal (Buolo-Buolo)
There were four yellow cards in the match, two for each side. J. Villamil and C. Jemio went off early, while J. Riasco and Joao Pedro picked up bookings in the second half. The game never got out of hand, though there were plenty of stoppages for free kicks — 15 for Buolo-Buolo against nine for ABB.
The statistics tell a story of efficiency over dominance. Buolo-Buolo shot six times on target from six attempts, a 43 per cent accuracy rate. ABB managed only two shots on target from ten attempts, hitting 18 per cent. They had more attacks — 83 to 68 — but the extra volume meant little when the visitors camped in the final third with purpose.
For Buolo-Buolo, this extends their unbeaten run in the competition and gives them breathing room in the group. ABB, meanwhile, must now regroup after a result that could prove costly. Cup football has its own rules, and one bad night can set you back far more than the final score suggests.
