Match report
Forge secured a 3:2 victory over Supra du Québec in the Canadian Premier League's Group Stage on Wednesday evening. The result leaves Forge second in the table with 41 points from 19 matches, while Supra remain fifth with 22 points. The hosts had come into the fixture after three straight defeats, losing to Cavalieri and Vancouver before a goalless draw with Halifax Wanderers. Supra, meanwhile, had shown more inconsistency with a 1:2 loss to Atlético Ottawa followed by a 3:3 draw against the same side.
Forge took an early lead through I. Conde in the twelfth minute, and the momentum held until H. Massunda doubled the advantage just after the quarter-hour mark. C. Auguste received the first yellow card of the evening at 29 minutes before D. Nimick converted a penalty in the thirtieth to pull Supra back into the contest. And here's the thing — Forge restored their two-goal cushion when Conde netted his second in the thirty-ninth minute, putting the visitors under real pressure.
The second half brought a series of changes from both managers. T. Borges came on for Forge in the forty-sixth minute, while K. Bekker and R. Bey arrived together for Supra at sixty-four. A. Aromatario picked up a yellow card at sixty-five, and L. A. Kwemi followed at seventy-three. H. Massunda was substituted for Forge at seventy-five, and the visitors responded with N. Ampomah and I. Oketokoun at sixty-nine. A. Sadek scored for Supra in the seventy-seventh minute, but Forge held firm despite further changes in both sides' final ten minutes.
Forge dominated the ball with 41 per cent possession against Supra's 59, but the hosts were more clinical in front of goal. They registered four shots on target from ten attempts, while Supra managed three on target from eight. Forge created three big chances compared to Supra's two, and their 16 successful tackles out of 19 attempted showed they won most of their defensive battles. Supra made 591 passes to Forge's 397, but only nine of their key passes found the right receiver — though Forge managed seven from seven key passes.
The victory closes a difficult run for Forge, who had now lost three consecutive matches before this win. Supra's defeat leaves them nine points adrift of the leaders with two matches remaining. The goal difference tells its own story — Forge sit on positive territory while Supra's tally sits at minus one after 19 games. By then, it was clear that this match would come down to moments rather than sustained pressure.
