Burgess Hill arrived with mixed results of their own. A comfortable 3:1 win against Jersey Bulls on September 15th was followed by a goalless draw with the same opposition five days prior. They had lost narrowly to Dover in July and picked up a 2:1 win over Sevenoaks Town earlier that month.
The two sides met early in the season in spirit if not in fixture. Both had drawn with Jersey Bulls in their respective recent runs, though Burgess Hill found a way to turn that stalemate into a victory when they needed to.
