Monaco Edge Past Hetafe in Tight Friendlies Encounter
Monaco secured a narrow 1:0 victory over Hetafe in a Club Friendlies match on the evening of 6 August 2026. And here's the thing — the scoreline barely tells you what happened out there. Both sides brought different energy to this warm-weather fixture, with the hosts showing flashes of their attacking intent while the visitors worked hard to contain them.
The decisive moment arrived in the sixty-fifth minute when P. Brunner stepped up to convert a penalty. To be fair, Monaco had been pressing for a while, and Brunner made no mistake from the spot. The goal came after some back-and-forth play, with Hetafe's defence struggling to clear their lines consistently throughout the half.
By then, things had shifted dramatically. In the seventy-eighth minute, C. Mawissa received a red card for Monaco, leaving the hosts with ten men for the final run-in. The crowd roared them on despite the disadvantage, but Hetafe didn't quite find a way through in the closing stages. It was a costly moment for the home side.
Substitutions came thick and fast from both benches. Monaco brought on B. Mayoral and A. Golovin in the second half, while Hetafe responded with M. Abline, Nazinho, and Davinchi. The old head settled them down at times, but neither manager could find the perfect combination to change the result.
Monaco dominated possession at 55 per cent and registered 82 attacks compared to Hetafe's 77. Yet possession alone doesn't win matches — the hosts needed that one moment of quality to separate the sides. Hetafe picked up two yellow cards while committing just one offside, showing they were cautious in their approach.
For Monaco, this result comes after a string of inconsistent friendlies — a 2:2 draw with Серкль Брюгге, a 0:2 defeat to Спортинг, and several high-scoring encounters. Hetafe showed more stability with back-to-back clean sheets against Вальядолид and a 1:0 win over Рединг. The scoreline sits at 1:0, and that's all the difference between two sides testing their mettle before the season proper begins.
