MC Academy lost 70:79 to Basket Olomouc in the First League on Thursday evening. The result leaves both sides in the bottom half of the table, though Olomouc move up a place to ninth. We had backed the hosts at 52 per cent, but the match took a different turn.
And here's the thing about games like this — you never know which quarter will decide it. Olomouc kept their composure when they needed to. The visitors didn't blow the game open, they just stayed ahead when it mattered.
To be fair, both sides have been grinding out results lately. MC Academy won four of eighteen, while Olomouc have five. Neither side has drawn a single game all season — you either take the points or you lose them.
The hosts came in on a run of mixed form. They had beaten Sokol Praha and USK Prague B, but lost to ČZ Academia and Хомутов. Olomouc were similar — wins against Sokol and ČZ Academia, but defeats to Хомутов and USK Prague B.
By then it was too late for the home side to recover. One mistake ends it in basketball, and MC Academy made enough of them. Olomouc held their nerve through the final moments and took the victory.
The score stays 70:79. MC Academy remain tenth with four wins, Olomouc ninth with five. Neither side has yet to find a formula that works consistently.
