Skeid beat Nordstrann 4-1 in the first round of the Norwegian Cup at Nordstrandhallen on Friday evening. The visitors took control early and never looked back, with F. Delaveris scoring twice to set the tone. The result sends Skeid through to the next stage while Nordstrann's cup campaign ends in disappointment.
It started badly for the hosts. M. Markdal picked up a red card at minute 7, leaving Nordstrann to play with ten men for nearly an hour. And here's the thing — you can't recover from that kind of deficit when you're also facing a side that knows how to punish mistakes. Skeid took advantage immediately, with Delaveris finding the net at minute 16.
The second half brought more of the same. Ekroll added a second at minute 49, and Delaveris completed his brace just three minutes later at minute 52. By then Nordstrann had fallen apart after the opener, and there was no real resistance left. Woldsund made it 4-0 at minute 69, and Odemarksbakken sealed it at minute 81.
The statistics tell a story you'd expect. Nordstrann had 66 per cent possession and matched Skeid with 77 attacks, but they wasted their chances. Six shots on target produced just one goal, while Skeid converted seven on target into four. To be fair, the red card changed everything — it's hard to build pressure when you're constantly retreating.
This win extends Skeid's recent form, following results that included a 4-1 victory over Mjondalen and a 5-1 thrashing of Asker. Nordstrann's last outing was a 3-3 draw with Ull/Kisa, but you can't draw comparisons when the playing conditions were so different. They'll need to regroup before their next league fixture.
