Pacific and Vancouver played out a 1:1 draw in the Canadian Premier League group stage on Saturday evening. The result leaves Pacific eighth in the table with 11 points from 22 matches, while Vancouver remain fourth on 31 points from 23 games.
Luis Toomey opened the scoring for the hosts in the tenth minute, but Vancouver responded just before the break. Y. Toualy equalised in the 45th minute plus three, and the half ended with Pacific leading 1:0.
By then, both managers had made changes. Pacific brought on Brian Chung and Roshawn Kadeem Delahaye Juhmi alongside R. Kratt at the interval. Vancouver introduced Aidan Daniels in the fiftieth minute, while elage bah, Terran Campbell, and Luis Toomey were replaced at the hour mark.
The match statistics tell a story of contrasting approaches. Pacific dominated possession with 59 per cent and completed 543 passes compared to Vancouver's 368. But Vancouver created two big chances to Pacific's zero, and their shot accuracy of 38 per cent was sharper than the hosts' 27 per cent.
Vancouver pressed higher up the pitch, winning 25 clearances against Pacific's 21. The hosts attempted 18 crosses to their opponents' 19, but only four landed successfully. Vancouver's eight interceptions showed they were reading the game well in midfield.
Three yellow cards appeared in the final ten minutes — Luis Toomey in the fiftieth, Shaan Hundal at 90+1, and Benjamin Lee at 90+3. Mohamed Amissi came on for Vancouver in the ninety-second minute, but neither side could find a winner. The draw ends Pacific's recent run of poor form, though they still trail Vancouver by 20 points in the standings.
