Slovan Bratislava II made it two wins from eight Second League outings when they saw off MFK Bytca 2:0 on Sunday. The result keeps the hosts in 12th place while dragging their visitors further down to 16th. By then, the visitors had already collected seven defeats from eight games, and this one added to the tally.
The opening half was a scrappy affair with tempers fraying early. Bozenik picked up a yellow card at 30 minutes, followed by Diane at 39 and Balog at 40. Falcao joined them at 44, and here's the thing — four cautions in ten minutes suggested neither side was willing to give an inch.
Both managers brought on four players at the break, a sign that legs were already going. Severa, Kianga, Griger and Hofstadter all came on, with the game looking to open up. By then, the hosts had need of the points badly, sitting just three above the drop zone.
Rehak ended his barren spell at 63 minutes, putting Slovan ahead after a sharp finish. The goal changed the shape of the match, and Bytca had to chase. Two more substitutions followed immediately, but the visitors could not find their footing.
The second goal came at 81 minutes, another Rehak strike to put the game to bed early. Congrady and Canolli came on in the closing stages, but the result was never in doubt. The hosts ran out of patience and the visitors ran out of ideas.
Slovan now sit on eight points from eight games, two wins and two draws keeping them clear of the bottom half. Bytca remain rooted to the foot of the table on three points, with only one victory all season. The gap between them is already widening.
