Young Boys beat Vaduz 4-2 at Stadion Wankdorf in the fourth round of the Super League Regular Season on Saturday. The hosts opened the scoring early and never looked back, extending their unbeaten start to the campaign. Vaduz, meanwhile, have not won since the opening day and sit twelve in the table with just three points.
Joël Monteiro gave Young Boys the lead in the fourth minute, a quick strike that set the tone for the afternoon. Vaduz responded through Miloš Cocić, who equalised in the twenty-fifth minute before adding a second of his own just before half-time in the forty-third. Mamadou Kaly Sene restored Young Boys' advantage in the thirty-seventh, and Alvyn Sanches made it 3-2 in the fifty-seventh. Armin Gigović sealed the win late on in the eighty-seventh minute.
Young Boys dominated possession in the first half but Vaduz had more of the ball overall at 59 per cent. The visitors completed 531 passes compared to 346 for the hosts, though Young Boys pushed 108 passes into the final third against 75 for Vaduz. Shots on target tell a different story: nine for Young Boys, six for Vaduz. The hosts created two big chances to one.
Substitutions came thick and fast after the break, with Young Boys bringing on Lewin Blum in the eightieth minute and Joël Monteiro in the eighty-first. Vaduz made four changes in the eighty-eighth minute alone, including Denis Simani and Julian Stark.
The result keeps Young Boys top of the table with fourteen points from six games, four wins and two draws. Vaduz remain rooted to the foot of the table, having lost five of their six matches this season. The gap between them now stands at eleven points, and the visitors need the points badly to avoid further damage.
