Casadó and Giménez train for the first time with Deportivo
Deportivo's two deadline-day loan signings joined training under Hidalgo and could debut Saturday against Villarreal in LaLiga's fourth round.
Deportivo trained with Marc Casadó and José María Giménez for the first time on Thursday, a day after both arrived in A Coruña for the club's ninth and tenth signings of the window.
Both worked under Antonio Hidalgo at the Abegondo training ground and will fight for a place in the squad for Saturday's trip to Villarreal, the fourth round of LaLiga EA Sports. Giménez will wear number 20, Casadó number 6.
Giménez arrives after 13 seasons at Atlético Madrid and joins on loan with a non-obligatory option to buy. The Uruguay international already has match rhythm behind him, having played in two of Atlético's opening three league fixtures. Casadó, also on loan with a non-obligatory purchase option set at €30m, is short of that rhythm: Hansi Flick left him out of Barcelona's first three rounds, and his last outing in the azulgrana shirt was the pre-season friendly against Birmingham.
Both clubs of origin are covering a large part of the pair's wages, sums that would otherwise have placed them outside Deportivo's normal market. Giménez landed on Wednesday on a private flight at around 14:00, spotted by a handful of supporters despite the secrecy around the move. Casadó followed some 90 minutes later on a scheduled flight and posed with the club scarf amid applause from young fans celebrating the deadline-day business.
Before travelling, Casadó was stopped by Barcelona press at El Prat airport and spoke about leaving the club he came through.
If both are passed fit and included by Hidalgo, Deportivo could hand debuts to two of their highest-profile arrivals of the summer at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Saturday.
