Riccardo Orsolini sidelined three weeks with thigh injury
Bologna winger Riccardo Orsolini will miss games against Sassuolo, Napoli and Torino after scans confirmed a flexor tear picked up at Atalanta.
Scans have revealed that Riccardo Orsolini has suffered a tear in the flexor muscles of his left thigh, ruling him out for around three weeks.
Bologna have lost both their opening Serie A fixtures of the season, 1-0 at home to Lazio and then away at Atalanta, and sit among seven sides still without a point, alongside Torino, Parma, Genoa, Monza, Venezia and Fiorentina.
Orsolini had come on in the 60th minute at Gewiss Stadium but was forced off early with the muscle problem. He was reported for medical examinations on Thursday, and the club confirmed the diagnosis in a statement.
The timeline rules him out of the away trip to Sassuolo, the trip to Napoli and the home game against Torino on 19 September, Bologna's last match before the international break, which begins on 21 September. He won’t return until after the break.
Federico Bernardeschi, who started on the right in Orsolini's place against Atalanta, is set to keep the shirt for the coming weeks as head coach Domenico Tedesco looks for a first win of the campaign.
