RFU Lifts Transfer Ban on Rostov and Sochi
Russian Football Union restores registration rights for both clubs after sanctions imposed 28 August over reported wage and licensing issues.
The Russian Football Union has lifted the transfer ban imposed on Rostov and Sochi, the RFU press office confirmed to Sport-Express and to Match TV. Both clubs can again register new players.
The restrictions had been in place since 28 August. Reports at the time pointed to financial breaches behind the sanctions: an agent representing Rostov players spoke of unpaid wages at the club, while Telegram channels cited licensing violations at Sochi.
Rostov sit 10th in the Russian Premier League table with 8 points from seven rounds. They travel to face Spartak on 13 September in round eight.
Sochi, playing in the First League, are fifth with 19 points and go to Veles away on 12 September in round 11.
