Akinfeev Already Pictures His Final CSKA Match
Injured since April, the 40-year-old CSKA goalkeeper says he has a clear mental image of his career farewell, to take shape after the 26 September game.
Igor Akinfeev says he already has a mental picture of how his final match will look, shaped by the injury that has kept him out since April.
CSKA Moscow's goalkeeper told Sport-Express columnist Ilya Kazakov, in remarks carried by Vesti.
Akinfeev, 40, has not played since 4 April, when he was injured in a 2:1 win over Akron in round 23 of the Russian championship. He has spent his entire career at CSKA, making 818 appearances in all competitions, conceding 742 goals and keeping 327 clean sheets.
He did not say the 26 September fixture would be his last. What he made clear is that the shape of his farewell, whenever it comes, is already fixed in his mind.
