Camp Nou or Wembley to host 2029 Champions League final

UEFA's Executive Committee meets in Thessaloniki to pick the 2029 final venue, with the Spotify Camp Nou favoured over Wembley.

UEFA's Executive Committee meets in Thessaloniki on Tuesday to decide the venue for the 2029 Champions League final, choosing between the Spotify Camp Nou and Wembley.

The session runs from 09:00 to 13:00 local time and will also settle venues for several other European finals. The Camp Nou has gone into the meeting as favourite, a position Mundo Deportivo first reported on 27 August, the day of the league-phase draw in Monte Carlo. Wembley lodged its own bid on 10 June.

Barcelona's proposal has the backing of Barcelona City Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Spanish football federation and the Spanish government. UEFA, under president Aleksander Ceferin, is tracking the stadium's rebuilding schedule closely: the roof is due to go on in the summer of 2027, with the remaining work finished by early 2028 at the latest.

A win for Barcelona would make it the third European Cup final staged at the ground, after Milan beat Steaua Bucharest 2-1 there in 1989 and Manchester United beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in 1999. The 2029 final is set for Saturday, 2 June.
