Joan García out three weeks with knee injury
Barcelona confirm the goalkeeper suffered a meniscus injury in his right knee against Racing Santander and will miss Sevilla, aiming to return for PSG.
Joan García has a meniscus injury in his right knee and will be out for around three weeks, Barcelona have confirmed after tests at the club's training ground on Thursday.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper hurt himself just before half-time in Wednesday's 7-2 win over Racing Santander, slipping on a wet patch behind his own goal as he went to retrieve the ball. He felt discomfort straight away. "We have to wait, but I hope he will be available on Saturday," he had said.
The scan ruled out surgery. According to Mundo Deportivo, it is not the same knee that kept García out for close to two months last season after he ruptured the meniscus in his left knee; he also had a meniscus problem on the other knee while at Espanyol in 2019.
The club do not play again after Sánchez Pizjuán until 11 October, against Getafe, which puts García in line to return in time for the Champions League visit of PSG on 20 October and the Clásico against Real Madrid five days later.
Racing Santander, for their part, sit 10th in La Liga on 7 points after six matches, with Yassir Zabiri their leading scorer on six goals this season.
