Yamal says Barcelona have never faced Real Madrid in the Champions League and hopes it happens, ahead of the clásico on 25 October.

Lamine Yamal wants Barcelona to meet Real Madrid in the Champions League — a fixture the two clubs have never played.

"We have never met Real Madrid in the Champions League. I would like us to play each other in this competition," Yamal told the programme Universo Valdano.

Yamal was speaking about the meaning of el clásico. He pointed to Marcus Rashford's first appearance in the fixture, a 1-2 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu.

"I watched how Rashford played and thought: he doesn't yet understand what el clásico means. In the second match he really understood what it means. He scored from a free kick and played with a completely different intensity. You just know that this match is war," Yamal said, in remarks carried by The Touchline.

Barcelona host Real Madrid on 25 October.
