Barcelona monitoring frustrated Chelsea winger Estêvão

Barcelona have Estêvão under close watch, with sporting director Deco taking a personal interest in a situation Spanish outlets describe as increasingly fraught at Chelsea.

The 19-year-old joined Chelsea from Palmeiras in the summer of 2025 and made an immediate mark, scoring eight goals with four assists in his debut campaign. A hamstring injury ended that season early in April and cost him a place in Brazil's squad for this year's World Cup, where the reigning champions have since made a perfect start under Carlo Ancelotti-era continuity, sitting top of their group on 7 points from three matches.

Since Xabi Alonso took over at Stamford Bridge, Estêvão has featured only from the bench, four substitute appearances in the Premier League for a combined 23 minutes, without a goal or assist to show for it. According to Diario Sport, the winger expected a central role this season and has grown "pessimistic" about his prospects under Alonso, with frustration at times turning to anger over what he considers unfair treatment.

Off the pitch, the same report claims Estêvão is reluctant to keep adding muscle mass at the rate Chelsea would like, fearing it could blunt his natural game. He is not yet contemplating an exit, and Alonso has reportedly told him his chance will come.

Barcelona's interest is not new. The club monitored Estêvão during his Palmeiras days before opting to back Lamin Yamal's progress instead. Deco is said to have first-hand information on the player's situation, and Transfermarkt values him at €80m.

Nothing here points to an imminent move, only a club keeping options open while a player waits for a manager to trust him.
