Mallorca goalkeeper Cuéllar hurt as canteen structure collapses
Iván 'Pichu' Cuéllar was taken to hospital with a head wound after a canteen fixture fell, and he may miss Mallorca's trip to Girona on 4 October.
Mallorca goalkeeper Iván 'Pichu' Cuéllar suffered what the club called a "considerable head wound" when a large decorative structure in the canteen at the Ciutat Esportiva Antonio Asensio collapsed on Monday morning.
The accident happened after training, as Cuéllar went to the canteen. He was taken to hospital and, in the club's words, "will remain under observation for the next 24 hours".
Cuéllar was an unused substitute on Sunday, when By all accounts in the Mallorca press, he is in good condition, but he may miss the trip to Girona at Montilivi on 4 October.
That would leave coach Luis García with Arnau Tenas as the only first-team goalkeeper available, since Bergström is away with Finland. Toni Dols and Nil Torreguitart would be the ones to fill the two places in the matchday squad.
If Cuéllar is ruled out, Mallorca would go to Girona with one senior goalkeeper and two from the reserves on the bench. That may mean Tenas has no cover in the squad beyond players who have not yet featured in the first team.
