Portugal beat Norway 2-1 without Ronaldo in Nations League

Portugal won 2-1 in Norway in their second Nations League fixture without Cristiano Ronaldo, who spent the game among the substitutes. João Félix put them ahead on 17 minutes, and Gonçalo Ramos scored the winner on 54.

Erling Haaland had levelled on 51 minutes, three minutes before Ramos restored the lead. A second goal by Ramos was ruled out. Norway had 62% of the ball, 6 shots on target to Portugal's 4 and 7 corners to 2, but did not equalise again at Ullevaal Stadion.

Portugal were booked seven times, the last caution going to Bernardo Silva in the 93rd minute. Palhinha, Renato Veiga, Vitinha, Cancelo and Rúben Dias were also cautioned. Norway had three yellow cards: Ryerson, Aursnes and Ajer.

Germany lost at home to Greece, 0-1. The Netherlands won 2-1 in Serbia, with both goals from Merdink.

Israel and Ireland players did not shake hands before their match. It ended in a heavy win for Ireland, managed by Heimir Hallgrímsson.

In England, the Premier League is pressing for a severe sanction against Manchester City, either a points deduction or expulsion from the league. Clubs in the second to fourth divisions may refuse to take City if they are expelled. Liam Gallagher has offered a different version, saying City would face only a fine and a transfer ban if they lose their appeal. He gave no source for it, and it has not been confirmed.

If Portugal keep winning with Ronaldo on the bench, his place in the side may become the question they are asked at the next fixture. On City, the gap between the league's demand and Gallagher's account will only close once the appeal is decided.
