About the player
Two loan spells came before Avishay Cohen settled into a regular starting role. After breaking through at Beitar Jerusalem, where he made his debut in the Israeli top flight in April 2014, the right-back was sent out first to Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam, then to Hapoel Jerusalem, also known as Hapoel Katamon. It was only after joining Bnei Yehuda in January 2019 that he found a settled place in the side, making more than 130 appearances there.
A return to Beitar Jerusalem in 2022 brought the Israel State Cup, won in the 2022/23 season. The following year he moved to Maccabi Tel Aviv, and the club were crowned champions of Israel in 2023/24.
In January 2026, Cohen signed for Ashdod, agreeing a deal to the end of the season with an option to extend, and took the number 2 shirt. He started every one of his 11 league appearances for the club, scoring once. In July 2026 he moved on again, joining Hapoel Petah Tikva.
