Alexander Shaw is a product of Inter Miami's academy, having joined the setup in 2019 and worked his way through to a first-team debut without ever wearing another club's badge. He came on as a second-half substitute against Charlotte FC in a 0-0 draw, the kind of appearance that rarely makes headlines but marks the point an academy prospect turns into a first-team option.

The club made that status official on 20 March 2026, signing him as a Homegrown Player on a deal running through the 2026 season with options extending to 2028-29 — the standard route for a player the academy has watched grow up rather than one recruited from outside. Before that step up, he spent time with Inter Miami CF II in MLS Next Pro, featuring 13 times in the 2025 season and contributing two assists, then adding further Next Pro minutes in 2026 alongside his early MLS involvement.

At international level, Shaw has represented the United States at Under-20 level, appearing six times during CONCACAF Under-20 Championship qualifying and contributing a goal and an assist. He wears number 88 for Inter Miami and plays in midfield, a role he has occupied through both his academy development and his early senior appearances.

His MLS involvement remains limited so far — two appearances and 22 minutes on the pitch by early 2026 — but the pathway from academy to Homegrown contract to senior debut has followed in quick succession, leaving him inside the first-team picture at a club he has never left.
