Ahmed Qasem

Ahmed Qasem holds both Swedish and Iraqi citizenship. In May 2026 FIFA approved his switch of sporting nationality from Sweden to Iraq, and on 29 May he made his debut for the Iraqi national team, in a friendly against Andorra. He was subsequently included in Iraq's squad for the 2026 World Cup.

That is how long it took him to score in a Leagues Cup match, the fastest goal in the club's history and the second-fastest in the competition's history, behind only Alonso Martinez of New York City FC, who needed 12. Qasem was also part of the squad that won the 2025 US Open Cup, the first trophy in Nashville's history.

Qasem began at Motala AIF and broke into the first team in the lower tiers of Swedish football, scoring eight goals in 54 appearances before Elfsborg signed him in January 2021. He went on to make 67 league appearances for Elfsborg over three seasons, scoring seven goals; across all competitions, including cup and European fixtures, the totals were 89 appearances and 11 goals.

Elfsborg sold him to Nashville SC in February 2025, for a fee reported at around $4.2m.
