About the player
Bayron Barrera came through the Deportes Iquique academy and made his professional debut in January 2025 as a left winger.
Barrera has represented Chile at both under-16 and under-17 level, and was included in the Chile under-16 microcycle in May 2025. He also scored against Colombia in the Copa UC in December 2025. At under-17 level he collected two official caps before being named in the squad for the 2026 South American Under-17 Championship in Paraguay, where he wore the number 10 shirt.
The tournament brought a setback. Barrera played in Chile's first two matches before a grade III sprain of his right ankle ruled him out on 9 April 2026. Chile went on to finish fifth in the competition without him for the closing games.
He remains a product of Deportes Iquique's own structure.
