About the player
Christian Martínez switched international allegiance in October 2021, moving from Costa Rica to El Salvador after FIFA approved the change on the strength of his Salvadoran father. The decision reshaped his career: he committed his international future to El Salvador and wears the number 14 shirt.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Martínez was a key player for El Salvador at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He has yet to open his scoring account at international level.
His club career began at home in Costa Rica, where he came through at A.D. Municipal Liberia before earning a move to Deportivo Saprissa. There he won two league titles. A loan spell took him to A.D. San Carlos, a switch that was made permanent and yielded a third league title.
Martínez later joined C.S. Reports have since linked him with a return to Deportiva San Carlos, the club where he previously lifted a title, for the coming season.
