About the player
Dāvis Ikaunieks broke into senior football in his home country before crossing into the Czech league. He started out at Liepājas Metalurgs, which restructured into FK Liepāja partway through his time there, and a loan to Vysočina Jihlava turned into a permanent move a year later. The breakthrough came in June 2018, when Jablonec paid €1 million for him — a fee Ikaunieks himself confirmed in an interview with Sportacentrs.
Loan spells took him back to Latvia with FK RFS and FK Liepāja and into the Czech second tier with Zlín and Mladá Boleslav. When the Jablonec spell ended in 2024, he signed for FA Šiauliai on a free transfer, then moved further afield still, joining DPMM FC in Singapore in early 2025, where he scored 14 goals. A return to FK RFS followed that June, before a switch to FK Kauno Žalgiris in January 2026 and, by that summer, back to Šiauliai on a deal running to the end of 2026.
For Latvia, Ikaunieks made his senior debut against Lithuania in June 2016, missing out on that summer's European Championship as his first cap came after the tournament. He has since won the Baltic Cup with the national side and scored against Turkey in a 3–3 draw during qualification for the 2022 World Cup, one of six goals credited to him in a Latvia shirt that has brought him 47 caps.
